Ministry of Hope Russia as Church planting focused

The keys of the kingdom were given to the Apostles in Matthew 16:18, and in-turn, elders of the church are to exercise them, as we see in I Corinthians 5:1-5, I Timothy 6:6 KJV, II Timothy 3:5, Titus 3:10, 11. Therefore, we believe that the planting of local churches should be the first priority of any Gospel mission. It is only in the context of Church discipline that effective preaching, and growth in Christ can take place. We continually remind our students that their first responsibility is to raise up elders for their church to lead the church, Titus 1:5, and godly men to lead their families, I Corinthians 14:34, 35.

Ministry of Hope Russia under the authority of the Church

In light of our vision statement, the ministry of Hope Russia:

  • works through effective partnership with local churches in order to accomplish our mission
  • believes that the ordination of the founder of the Biblical Theological Seminary, Blake Purcell, should be held by a church—Blake is an evangelist of the Pacific Northwest Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America
  • ensures that all of our visiting and regular professors are church officers or ministers in their home churches

Ministry of Hope Russia effectively completed only by the established Church

We also believe that while Hope Russia provides pastors with a 3-year intensive life-on-life mentoring experience, all the graduates need long-term mentoring by men who are in the ministry. We also believe that the Eurasian pastors, by God's design, are in need of outside financial help in order to be able to be available as missionaries to their communities and regions in Siberia, European Russia, the Russian Far East, Central Asia, Latvia, and Kazakhstan. The Hope Russia staff by themselves, and Hope Russia by itself cannot provide this financial support nor long-term mentoring, so we recruit elders of North American churches to do this.
